The PFC-free Dreamhaven Single 7.5cm 3D self-inflating mat (SIM) showcases Outwell’s innovation to ensure sleep comfort.
The normal manufacturing process, using stretch soft-on-skin polyester fabric, involves gluing top and bottom fabrics together and requires around six metres of wide stretch side material that deforms under pressure in a similar way to a balloon. This means you overinflate a 3D SIM to get the necessary support and the pressure needed is hard to obtain by mouth or pump. To solve this problem, Outwell has developed a manufacturing technique that enables a non-stretch material to be used alongside the stretch soft-on-skin polyester top fabric vital to comfort. This ensures fast, easy inflation under less pressure to obtain comfortable support to the edge of the mat. It also provides fast, easy deflation.
Plus, the internal foam in the Dreamhaven has “horizontal core sculpting”, which reduces bulk while enhancing insulation – especially by eradicating cold spots caused by vertical coring. Outwell says the deep profile provides ultimate comfort and the insulation provides an outstanding independently tested 6.6 R-value.
The Outwell Dreamhaven SIM uses the Flat High-Flow (FHF) valve to improve performance and compatibility with electric pumps. FHF valves have been developed to address slow inflation/deflation speeds and to make it easier to adjust firmness. It provides great airflow with the choice of one-way inflation through easy and simple operation.
