A recent poll conducted by Caravan Guard has shown that the vast majority of caravanners will be spending their main summer caravanning holiday in the UK, rather than heading across the channel to Europe.
A massive 80% of the 400 plus caravanners polled said they would be spending their summer break in the UK, followed by 14% who said they’d be heading to France, just 1% planned trips to Italy or Spain, whilst 4% favoured “another European destination”.
Sally Wilby, Director at Caravan Guard, had this to say about the results,
“We purposely asked customers to tell us where they were going for their main summer holiday as we assumed there would be equal numbers of owners staying in the UK and going abroad. The results however were quite surprising as we found the vast majority of people intended to spend their main summer break in the UK.”
The results come as further proof that UK caravanning is as strong as ever. Rising fuel costs and unappealing exchange rates may explain the current preferences of UK caravan owners to stay within the British Isles.
Of course, we also recognise that a huge proportion of UK caravanners travel abroad, and if you are travelling to Europe it’s important that you have adequate insurance cover in place. Caravan Guard allow you to take an unlimited number of trips to Europe, travelling up to 90 days at a time.
