A motorhome awning will not only give you some extra space to chill out in, but they’re also great for added shelter, and even a bit of alfresco dining.
Last month we asked owners if they used an awning on their motorhome and if so what kind. For those who said they didn’t use an awning, we asked if they used a different kind of canopy or shelter.
Motorhome awning results
After more than 300 votes we can now reveal the results…
Almost neck and neck with the top share of the votes were a wind-out canopy awning and a drive-away awning.
A wind-out canopy sneaked into the top spot with 41 percent of the votes – not surprising as many new coachbuilt motorhomes and campervans have a wind-out canopy as standard.
Closely behind in second place, with 40 percent of the votes was a drive-away awning – a functional awning which can be easily detached from your vehicle and left standing on your pitch if you want to go out for the day in your campervan or motorhome. When you return you simply park alongside it and re-attach.
Almost a quarter of voters said they used a fixed awning, which are great for longer stays on a campsite.
Twenty-three percent said they used an alternative to an awning with nine percent using a canopy, four percent using a shelter, gazebo or tent and two percent using a tarp.
Just eight percent of motorhomers said they didn’t use any kind of awning, canopy or shelter.
