It was a close call when choosing the most popular first caravan holiday destination when totting up the votes in last month’s community poll.
We asked you where you went for your first caravanning holiday, and with plenty of destinations to choose from and hundreds of votes cast, we can now bring you the top five.
Let’s reveal the results…
In first place with nine per cent of the votes was Scotland – a popular choice for both caravanners and motorhomers. No surprises really when you consider its magical landscapes, stunning coastline and array of islands, lochs and cities to visit.
Glorious Yorkshire – home of Caravan Guard insurance – took second place with eight per cent of the votes. Again the county is popular for its rolling countryside, particularly the Yorkshire Dales, as well as its grand coastline, lively cities and pretty villages.
Heading south, Devon sneaked in ahead of North Wales to take third place. The southern county attracts visitors from far and wide to explore its beautiful beaches, pebbled coves and national parks.
North Wales also has a multitude of caravan parks for caravanners who love to explore the great outdoors. There’s the mountains and lakes of Snowdonia, plus castles, railways and fabulous beaches, it’s no wonder it made the top five for a first caravan holiday.
But for the more adventurous caravanner, Europe was a popular destination for that first caravan holiday, and took fifth place in our poll. With some caravanners stationed in Germany when undertaking their first trip away in the ‘van.
Here’s some of your comments…
Peter Clissold celebrated his dad’s 91st birthday in South Wales – proof that caravanning is for all ages – and Roy Coles said he had the best time ever on his first caravan holiday.
Whilst Mark Harding stayed close to home – just in case, Stephen Poad had an adventurous first trip, taking his first caravan on a ferry from Hull to Rotterdam, through Germany to Lake Garda in Italy.
