POLL NOW CLOSED – Thanks to everyone who voted
Caravan awnings come in all shapes and sizes, as well as poled or air variants.
In this month’s community poll, we’d like to know what type of awning you have on your touring or seasonally pitched caravan, or maybe you don’t have a caravan awning….?
We’ll report back the results in December.
And if you’re on the lookout for a new awning check our out gear guides to inflatable awnings, poled awnings, caravan porch awnings, and also awnings for caravans on a seasonal pitch.
We have an air awning. We find it more robust to handle high winds. The trick with all porch awnings is to attach guy lines to both ends of the channel beading. This stops it moving with the wind. Some companies have an eye fitted for this.
We are contemplating a canopy for our tourer, either Fiammi CaravanStore or Thule 1200
Our poll awning is seasonal it puts our air awning to shame! you still have to peg it etc.
I have a poled awning but now need to replace it with an air one. Too old to do poles now.
WE have a porch awning half size of a full one with fiberglass poles , as i am disabled the boss and I find it ideal to use have had to replace 2 sections of pole due to agale one night .
Not really effective – it only relates to what types of awnings are owned. It does not ask the question… “are you happy with your awning type” nor does it take into consideration quality, value for money and ease of erecting.
Thanks for your comment Edwin. It’s a simple poll to find out which type of awnings (pole or air) are popular with caravanners. You’re more than welcome to add further comments about how happy you are with your awning etc in the comments section. Take care. Liz
We have a Fiamma canopy on our present caravan and we find this better for our needs and provides shelter for the bicycles and other outside equipment. When our children were smaller we always had a full awning for the extra room it provided but it was always a pain to put up and take down. The fiamma canopy is just much easier these days.
We bought a drive away Ventura awning for our motorhome with a annex, it was a bad fit so the wife and i set about it with a pair of scissors and cut the porch bit at yhe back and it fits beautifully a lot of people have comented on and ask where we bought it and are shocked when we tell them we paid over a thousand pounds for the awning and then cut it about, you just cannot buy a good awnig for a motorhome because of the height, the door ,the windows and many other issues.
I have an air awning,it a great peace of kit
have an air awning ,would never buy another, it only fits to my satisfaction if the pitch is level
Our touring caravan awning is a poled version which started out as a drive away awning which we used on our campervan.
I have a Motorhome awning attached.
Interesting to see the outcome
