As proud caravanners, we all know the value of our caravan and all our caravanning kit – not just in financial terms, but in the memories and adventures they bring.
One way to improve the chances of recovering your caravanning gear should it ever get stolen is by security marking it.
Security marking means labelling or even engraving your property with identifiable information, such as a postcode or unique ID number.
Caravanning gear that’s easily resold or has a high market value, like solar panels, TVs, BBQs, bikes and outdoor furniture can be prime targets but by security marking them, you can reduce the appeal to thieves and increase the chances of recovery if they’re taken.
The VIN Chip Plus offers unique VIN marking for internal and removable caravanning items. The kit includes a microdot solution which contains your caravan’s VIN and can be used on any internal surface as well as a UV pen to mark any items within your caravan – plus a UV torch. The kit also includes tamper-resistant labels all coded with your caravan’s VIN, which you place out of sight around your caravan; an extra RFID Chip; and window warning labels which warn potential thieves that your caravan is protected and should be left alone.
So, in this month’s community poll we want to know if you security mark your caravanning kit? Simply vote yes or no below and let us know why in the comments section below.
We’ll report back the results in December, and remember here at Caravan Guard we offer a small caravan insurance discount for property marking solutions.
We use Vinchip+ as anything that can be done to prevent theives taking the van or any contents is well worth trying.
