Great news to hear that Lunar Caravans has been acquired by a specialist engineering group who say they are driving forward its 2020 season plans.
Trading under the new name of Lunar Automotive, the company has become part of MEWA, a South African specialist engineering group, founded by Cecil Marks.
Lunar Automotive director Nicholas Marks said the MEWA group has been involved in specialist engineering and component manufacture for 100 years.
“This experience and capability, coupled with the manufacturing expertise acquired with the existing team at Lunar, bodes well for the brand, not only to celebrate its 50th anniversary but to look forward to the next 50 years,” he added.
With the production of caravans scheduled for September, the 2020 demonstrator models are ready to be introduced to the dealer network. The sales team, headed up by Lee Roberts, who has been an integral part of the Lunar team for more than six years, is strongly focused on maximising the success of the new season launch.
Nicholas confirmed that dealers remain very supportive and that he will be confirming the network in the near future. He also said motorhomes would continue to be an integral part of Lunar’s expanded product range.
“We are discussing some interesting ideas that will continue to show the ingenuity of our design and production teams going forward,” said Nicholas.
Lunar Automotive said the new season would see a strong focus on exceptional build quality with longer-term plans to include some very exciting products using innovative engineering, design and manufacturing processes.
Caravan Guard can also confirm that it will continue to insure Lunar caravans and motorhomes up to 25 years old.
Enquiry, do you still produce decals for the Lunar Solaris caravan please?
Hi Raymond, we provide caravan insurance and don’t produce vehicle decals. Sorry we’re not able to help. Thanks, Liz
Thank you for your swift reply and suggestions.
I have a 2018 Lunar Clubman SB I’m in need of 3 window blinds As I have just been informed by my caravan dealer during an annual service that are in- repairable Is this something you could help or advice me with??
Hi Michael, there are some caravan spares businesses that might be able to source replacement blinds or you might be able to source direct from Dometic? You Tube has plenty of handy videos on how to replace. Sorry we can’t be of much more help.
I have a 2017 lunar alaria , all side windows have cracked really bad I feel very distressed about this as no warranty was granted when lunar went under, you put your faith in sellers , then as soon as something happens nobody wants to take responsibility, I would love to know why this has happened, I’ve had older caravans and never had this happen before , I’m shocked and outraged
Dear sir
Me as a customer see all what you say about LUNAR as doubtful, about putting £22,000 pounds on the line for a secondhand Ariva and having no back up support for spares etc,
Yours sadly Ken Andrews
