It’s been four weeks since we asked ‘Which European countries have you visited in your caravan or motorhome?. It’s now time to reveal the all important results.
Whether you fancied France, spent time in Spain or enjoyed England and the rest of the UK, we wanted to hear from you.
Let’s start with the country you voted in at number eight; with just 5% of the vote, Scandinavia was the least visited destination, while Eastern Europe as a whole received only 7% of the final vote and came it at number seven. The republic of Ireland came in sixth with 12%, beaten to fifth place by Italy with 22%.
28% of voters visited less well-know destinations and selected ‘Other’, but 30% of you prefer to holiday closer to home with ‘staycations’ in the UK.
German and sunny Spain came in joint second place each with 34% of the vote and in first place – with a huge 69% of the vote – is France, which remains one of the most popular destinations for ‘vanners.
Some owners cite fear of driving abroad as reasons to stay in the UK, but Brian was quick to reasure caravan and motorhome owners with this comment about his recent trip to Spain via France:
“Just got back from our second four-week visit to Spain (Valencia region). Stayed on a Camping & Caravanning Club Rally and travelled via some excellent sites in France. We loved every minute. It’s even a pleasure to drive on their superb motorways and A-roads, with lots of service areas that make you welcome and don’t charge excessively for their services and fuel.”
