    Hi Mike Reeves
I’m extremely sorry for the delay in responding. Looks like your query got overlooked which is unusual. I don’t know your full circumstances but previous driving experience and a previous no claims discount is usually taken into account with Caravan Guard. Even if a first time owner has no previous experience of motorhome driving, it is still possible to get a large no claims discount on motorhome insurance reflecting no claims bonus on previous or existing car insurance policies. Please feel free to call us for further details. 01422 396 769.
    Kind regards

Tyron bands were found to be a popular and effective safety feature installed by caravan owners hence the award of a discount. As you will know the bands can greatly reduce the chances of a major road accident in the event of a blow out on a caravan tyre – something that occurs regularly. The bands help to prevent the caravan going into an uncontrollable snaking motion in the event of a blow out. To be honest we weren’t aware of their popularity on motorhomes but it is something we will look into. If we believe the bands could have a significant impact in reducing motorhome accidents/ if instances of damage following a motorhome tyre blow out are as commonplace we might have a case to request our underwriters  reward fitment of Tyron bands on motorhomes with an insurance discount. Thank you for bringing to our attention.
    Kind regards

why are tyron bands given a discount on caravans and not motorhomes ? surely this safety feature should warrant a discount

    Hi,
When insuring for the first time with a motorhome I was told my past 45 yrs driving experience did not mean much, how ridiculous I have been driving large vehicles most of my life.
