The Geist Aktiv 450 is a caravan that is likely to appeal to couples primarily wanting a fixed bed two-berth that they can convert to provide another bed should it be needed.
This can be achieved by converting the dining area to another bed – just one attribute of a caravan that’s best described as well made, with an innovative layout.
It’s only 4.5 metres in body but inside it feels more spacious than you would expect from a caravan that length. You have a fixed bed and a permanent dining area.
The fixed bed is at the front with washroom beside it, along with a beautiful vanity unit with turquoise metal-effect roller-doored cupboard.
The kitchen gives you a Spinflo oven/grill, three-burner hob, two cupboards, fixed drainer sink and a small worktop to its left. Opposite the kitchen and between bedroom and dining area on the offside is an unusually huge dresser-style unit. You have a work surface with cupboards above and the heater unit beneath.
The wardrobe is tucked away in the nearside rear corner next to the door, with a shoe cupboard beneath it.
Minimalist styling that marks out caravans of continental design (this one is built in Germany) looks modern and chic.
Look carefully at the (windowless) door and you’ll see a “spy hole”. Quite when and why you’d be vetting visitors on a caravan site is a mystery – but it’s a nice touch should you ever want to!
Verdict
Since establishing its name in the UK market over the past five years or so, Geist has evolved its product range and built itself a reputation for strong build quality – and the AK450 clearly demonstrates this. The standard of insulation on these caravans is high and buyers will notice things like the doors are perfectly aligned.
It’s a caravan that’s ideal for smaller families or couples.
