Oh we do like to be beside the seaside…well that’s what our recent motorhome campsite destination poll results suggest!
Last month we asked you to vote for your favourite motorhome campsite destination – and taking the top spot was the beach or coast, with some motorhomers singling out Whitesands at St David’s in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
Favourite motorhome stays
Motorhome camping by the coast, or beachside, was a clear winner with 43 per cent of the votes.
In second place, with almost a fifth of the votes was countryside vanlife.
And in third place, was a waterside campsite, by a lake or river – perfect for kayaking, canoeing or even paddleboarding or wild swimming!
It seems like many motorhomers are eager to get away from town or city life as these destinations only got five per cent of the votes.
Forest retreats took the fifth most favourite motorhome destination, followed closely by a campsite near a country pub, or even a Britstop.
Many motorhomers voted for “other” and listed specific destinations, such as France, Spain, Dunstan, Scarborough, and West Ireland.
Barry Carter and his wife have been motorhoming for 16 years and told us he was a huge fan of staying close to water, the coast or a lake. They’ve visited hundreds of sites from Cornwall to the Highlands and Isles of Scotland and the four sites that continually draw the back are Seacroft Cromer in Norfolk; Old Hartley near Whitley Bay in North Tyneside; Ferry Meadows and St Neots Camping and Caravanning Club site, both in Cambridgeshire.
Thanks to everyone who voted and happy motorhoming!
