We’ve brought you a review of some of the latest caravan and motorhome apps and then we asked which was your favourite app in our recent community poll.
After weeks of voting, there was one outright winner and lots of “other” recommendations.
Here’s the results…
The Level my caravan app came out top with 20% of the votes.
There were a handful of apps we had not included in our list, including the popular Camper Contact – which has the most up-to-date motorhome parking stops in Europe.
Travel and parking apps were also popular with voters – Maps.Me and Park4Night received nine per cent of the votes each, and AA route planner got eight per cent.
Here’s what some of you had to say…
Martin and KC both use the Camper Contact app.
“It has got me out of many worries as to where to stop on route to my final destination, both in the UK and Europe,” said Martin.
A favourite for Kevin Timmis is the Camping Card (ASCI), which supplements the ACSI books.
“It’s available offline and is a great planning tool, especially on the European mainland,” said Kevin.
Other recommended apps from our readers included ViewRanger for maps and WikiCamp UK, which lists campsites and reviews, and Antenna Aligner, to help get a good TV reception.
Rick Daniel recommended EHU – Electric Hook up.
“We all know that on many campsites there is a limit to how much power is available at the power-point,” said Rick. “Particularly abroad it can be as low as 6 Amps. This app allows you to enter details of each of your electrical appliances’ power consumption, then it reports the total amperage load they will demand. You can tell the app which appliances you intend to always use (obvious/permanent ones being the battery charger and fridge), then switch on or off the others (kettle, fan/oil heater, television, electric blanket etc) so that you can see when you reach the available power limit. This is great for avoiding the embarrassment of knocking out your power supply and (often) having to get the owner to come and re-set it.”
Thanks to everyone who voted.
Thanks Liz, appreciate the clarification.
Level my caravan is an app that dows not work!!!
Got the Level My Caravan app on the strength of this article. Wouldn’t even open on iPhone 6 IOS 9.3.3. Moral: never rely on surveys and public ratings!
Sorry you’re having problems with it Tony. Seems to work for others.
Can you tell us what the ‘Other’ apps scored each?
18% voted for “Other” but not everyone listed their “other” app choice, so it’s difficult to breakdown the figures. Camper Contact had a couple of votes and others included Camping Card, ViewRanger, WikiCamp, Antenna Aligner, EHU, CoPilot and Caravan and Camping Club.
Hope this helps?
