POLL NOW CLOSED – Thanks to everyone who voted
Autumn and winter can bring harsh weather conditions, including snow, sleet, rain and storms. So, for caravan and motorhome owners, protecting their beloved leisure vehicles during the autumn and winter months is paramount.
One way to shield your pride and joy from the elements is by using a caravan or motorhome cover.
In our new community poll, we aim to find out how popular caravan and motorhome covers are for owners during the autumn and winter seasons.
Caravans and motorhome covers can shield your leisure vehicle from the harsh winter elements, such as snow, ice, and hailstones, as well as from storm debris, like small tree branches, or other objects that could cause dents, scratches, or even structural damage.
Covers can also help keep critters like vermin and insects nesting inside your caravan or motorhome during the off-season as well as protecting your roof from bird lime and tree sap, plus hiding the make, model and contents from any would-be thieves.
Do you use a cover on your caravan or motorhome in winter?
From full covers to roof covers, or no cover at all, let us know if you add a layer of protection to your leisure vehicle in the colder and wetter months.
If you do use a cover to protect your pride and joy let us know what your main reasons are for doing so, and if you don’t use one tell us if you have any specific reasons why. Maybe you think it’s too much hassle to put on and take off?
Thanks for voting and commenting and we look forward to sharing the results in December 2023.
We have just bought a top motorhome cover but haven’t fitted it yet. We didn’t want a full cover as they are so expensive, plus all the hassle of putting them on and off when we need to take the motorhome for a run every so often. Will have to see how the top cover is.
Hope it works well in protecting your motorhome Val
Jean Stafford-we use our cover to protect our folding camper from direct rain damage,
Bought a roof cover that is longer than the motorhome so goes over the bonnet and down the back. Have also a full cover but haven’t even opened it as this larger one does the trick. Can easily get in and out of the van to check all is well. Even the solar panel gets enough sun and light to keep batteries charged up.
I used to leave my towing cover on during storage but found that dust accumulated and created difficult to remove marks and leaving it on meant that winter sunshine obviously couldn’t provide warmth into the van.
Hope it helps to stop any ingress of heavy rain.
Good
I did use a cover, but where we live in Cornwall the wind damaged the cover and also the cover rubbed the paint off all the corners and edges of the caravan
