Caravanning is cool again and it looks like we’re a happy bunch of caravanners, judging by our recent poll results! But who’s about to upgrade their caravan?
Last month, we asked owners if they planned to upgrade or change their caravan this year as demand for leisure vehicles surges and UK holidays are on the up.
After almost 400 votes, sixty-three percent of voters said they were happy with their current caravan and had no plans to change.
Nine percent of you told us you’d already changed your caravan.
15 percent of caravanners said they were considering a change or upgrade in 2021.
Eight percent are planning to have a change or upgrade their caravan now dealerships have re-opened.
So caravan dealers could be busy with potentially over 20% of owners in the market for a new tourer.
Just one percent said they had bought their first caravan, a further one percent planned to change to motorhoming and another one per cent planned to change their tourer for a static caravan.
Your comments
A few caravanners told us they had recently bought a new ‘van so had no plans to upgrade or change just yet.
Terry Marshall said he bought a new Lunar Ultima 462 in 2019.
“We absolutely love it and can’t wait to start using again this year!” he commented. “We hope to keep it for a good few years yet!”
Michael Houston also changed his caravan in 2019, buying a Lunar Stellar.
Andy told us he had invested quite a bit of money fitting all kinds of safety and security devices, like Tyron bands, a TyrePal tyre pressure monitor, reversing camera and Phantom alarm, so planned to keep it for a little while yet. He should also get a healthy discount on his caravan insurance premium!
Laurie Cunningham’s Coachman VIP caravan is eight years old but still like new.
“Why change?” he added. Why indeed!
Thanks to everyone who voted and we’ll bring you a new poll next month.
That’s a good point and might help, improve build quality
Perhaps a good survey would be to ask how many caravaners are not satisfied with their purchases. Perhaps then manufacturers would consider looking after not just future customers but those who have been loyal to caravaning.
