There’s an awful lot of choice when it comes to buying a motorhome or caravan, so to find out which models have caught your eye, last month we asked: Which caravan or motorhome manufacturer has the stand out range of 2014?
Here’s how you voted…
Now let’s take a look at some of your comments…
Peter Borrows chose a manufacturer that wasn’t on our list: “For 2 berth van conversions, Vantage Motorhomes offers an exceptional range of models all of which offer outstanding design and build quality at competitive prices. A big plus is that you deal directly with the conversion company so that any problems are resolved directly rather than through a third party.”
Coachman – voted in sixth place – was commended for having “the best build quality on the market and the best residual value”. Arthur Branthwaite specifically praised the Coachman Laser, “I have a 6 year old Laser and its quality has not been compromised for price.”
The Coachman Laser was praised for its value and quality build
Lorraine Down is another Coachman advocate: “The Amara and all coachman caravans have excellent build quality. There’s a great Coachman Owners club factory tour every September where you can view the new range of caravans and meet Jim Hibbs (Managing Director) and the team and see how the coachman caravans are made. This year was the first time we visited the factory and it is truly amazing seeing how the caravans are built. We have had various makes of caravans over the years but Coachmans really stand out from the crowd.”
Gaynor also agrees saying, “Coachman all the way – fantastic build quality and customer service.”
On a different note, the Bailey Unicorn Cadiz caravan was also voted as a stand out model. Ian Roe got in touch to say,“After extensive research we opted for the new Cadiz as it offers a greater upmarket feel with a modern design. Some people knock the window design but it’s ok – it’s like marmite you either love it or hate it! Our friends have even gone and bought one.”
Like Ian, Tony thinks that Bailey’s latest caravans are the ones to watch: “I think Baileys’ new windows & décor have really made their caravans feel more up market with good prices to match.”
Swift were also a popular choice with 12% of the vote
It seems as though most of you agree! Bailey came in at number one with 20% of the vote! Others in the top five include Swift, Auto-Trailand Adria.

You know it’s the homer vans that are one of the very best which like Mercedes just go on and on
Ours is now 8/9 years old still looks fresh is totally dry has never failed and it would be difficult to argue the case for changing
So ours is hymer nova 580 fully serviced every year
I recommend you look at them but they are not cheap and retain their value
Hi lucy, no coachman didn’t want to know, we are having to have it repaired ourselves around £380, not very pleased, john.
We have a coachman pastishe, and are very satisfied with it with the exeption of the shower, we arrived home from a DA meet to find that the shower wall had cracked during the trip, this is supposed to be a quality build of caravan, and in my opinion this should not happen. The walls of the shower are paper thin, and I feel that it is going to cost us a fortune to have repaired. I expected better quality of manufacture from coachman.
Sorry to hear that John. Hopefully the matter was resolved with Coachman or your dealer and didn’t jeopardise any other trips.
