The Bailey Olympus 504 is a new layout in the company’s model range.
What makes it different are a transverse rear washroom layout and two separate living and sleeping areas, giving huge flexibility of use for a family or for a couple, an idea which we rather liked when we saw it.
There is a choice of two soft furnishing schemes with optional armrests and wall mounted magazine racks available and there is an option of a centre chest of drawers too. The model we saw had the optional Andorra upholstery.
The front end is a wrap-around seating style which can be made up to a double bed.
The second living/sleeping area can be made up as a double bed, or used with its dedicated table as a living area; a great place for the kids to have somewhere to read or play games. Designed as a four berth caravan, there is an option of a fifth berth bunk in the second sleeping area.
The off-side kitchen features a rectangular stainless steel sink set in a high gloss worktop, with a chopping board, washing up bowl and separate drainer, a microwave, four burner gas hob, an oven with separate grill and a Thetford 107L fridge, large enough to cope with the feeding the family for a couple of days.
We did like the battery friendly low-energy lighting; perfect for users who rally or prefer not to hook-up to mains electricity.
Olympus benefits from the full-fat Alu-Tech™ construction method developed and introduced by Bailey last year. Although it doesn’t have the same high level of specification as the Pegasus range, there are some common features and no short cuts have been taken in the construction process.
Recommended Retail Price £14,495. This includes VAT but excluding a charge of up to £495 charged by retailer which includes delivery and preparing your caravan for collection by you. Andorra optional upholstery as seen £225. Optional chest of drawers RRP £280.
Verdict
A cracking, flexible layout, which we think will be popular. You could leave the second sleeping area made up as a double bed or make it the Kids Own Zone; there are enough top lockers for them to keep their clothes, books, toys and games. Buy it before the VAT increase!
