Autumn is a great time of the year to get away in your caravan for a short break.

A week-long event celebrating autumn and its harvest. It also incorporates an Apple Festival on the October 24 and 25. Expect such delights as cookery demonstrations, fruit pressing demonstrations, tasting sessions and learn top tips on areas such as storing and preserving.
Got the kids or grandchildren with you? On October 31 the festival includes pumpkin carving and Halloween craft activities such as making your own mini broomstick out of willow. Normal Garden Admission applies.

Lincolnshire Sausage Festival
Tastes of Lincolnshire Sausage Festival, Lincoln Castle.

If you fancy a free day with lots of products to taste then you could do far worse than a visit to Lincoln Castle for this annual celebration of the famous Lincolnshire sausage. The Lincolnshire Sports Partnership will also host a variety of games for everyone to try and the children will be catered for with a number of themed activities.

The Old Plane Trees
Festival of Autumn Colour, Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway, Exbury, Southampton, Hampshire.

Described as a photographer’s dream, visitors can enjoy the glorious fiery colours of the maples, dogwoods and deciduous azaleas. Other photo opportunities are provided in the Five Arrows Gallery, where Exbury’s collection of Nerine sarniensis sparkle under the light. Simply stunning.

Clovelly Herring Festival
Clovelly Herring Festival, Clovelly Harbour, North Devon.
Sunday, November 15.
If you’re in the North Devon area then be sure to head for this historic and picturesque fishing village for a celebration of the “silver darling of the sea” – the herring. The aim of the day is to raise awareness of dwindling fish stocks and is part of a series of events highlighting the different aspects of life, culture, history and wildlife within the North Devon Coast Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty to mark its 50th anniversary. There will also be live music, fishing demonstrations and kipper and bloater smoking.
