It’s complete revamp time for the Xplore caravan range from Elddis, inside and out. Starting with the latter, where there are now silver sides and black alloy wheels, plus new graphics.
The Duo is one of three XC models and the only two-berth in the line-up. Consider it quite some upgrade on the outgoing 422 model it replaces.
In this video we take a look at the 2025 Xplore XC Duo caravan:
What might seem a considerable price hike is actually reflected in lots of key items previously listed as optional extras that are now part of the standard package – for example, what was the SE Pack (comprising alloy wheels, Al-Ko stabiliser, steel spare wheel with a spare wheel carrier, radio with MP3 connectivity and extra speakers etc, was £685), 230V external socket (was £149), gas barbecue point (£113), exterior-access locker (£81), Omnivent (£255), bike rack (£495).
Even better, the likes of Al-Ko ATC (was £608), an Al-Ko Secure Wheel Lock (£311), alarm (£389), tracking system (£332), are now standard and really beef up the safety and security side – and will help towards securing you a lower caravan insurance premium.
The payload might seem a bit paltry, but bear in mind the additions above – and there’s not a lot of space to add much more anyway. There is a chassis upgrade option should you want 50kg more.
The Xplore XC Duo caravan layout is a classic two-berth – putting the kitchen across the back with washroom in the rear offside corner.
Up front, the lounge has twin inward-facing settees that combine to give a 2.01m x 1.55m double bed.
True, it’s only a small unit, but the large single front window, plus side units, complemented by a Midi-Heki overhead, all help towards a light and airy interior throughout.
The flat-fronted lockers and generally curve-free furniture help towards the fuss-free image. Scatter cushions add a splash of colour.
The Xplore XC Duo kitchen has a bit of an L-shaped to it, with a narrow extension along the nearside to help optimise storage and worktop space.
There’s a Thetford Triplex with three gas rings and an electric hotplate, plus a combined oven and grill, while storage includes a shelved locker, a trio of drawers and a couple of floor lockers.
The fridge, a 98-litre Dometic model, sits further forward on the offside, under a wardrobe which also does duty as a storage point for the free-standing dining table.
Between the kitchen and the wardrobe is the washroom, a design that’s large enough to offer a separate shower cubicle, complete with water-efficient Ecocamel Jetstorm showerhead, as well as a Thetford swivel-bowl toilet and a countertop basin.
Tap, shower and other fittings are in black, as is the style these days, and storage includes a double-doored locker over the toilet and a low-level slimline locker with open shelving adjacent.
Completing the Xplore XC Duo’s furniture is a TV/dresser unit just inside the entrance, which also houses a Russell Hobbs microwave oven – a glass plate model – with a locker above.
Under the worktop, which is ideal for taking a TV (a Teleco Teleplus aerial is supplied as standard), there’s a drawer and another locker.
Add in heating and hot water systems from Whale, a handy couple of hooks, a stable-type main door, even on-board Wii-Fi and the Xplore XC Duo caravan adds up to quite a package for couples who want to keep things as light as possible yet still enjoy plenty of luxuries.
And finally, the selection of Xplore merchandise – hats, tee-shirts, drinking bottles and the like – helps to jolly things along a bit, too.
