This newcomer for the 2024 season takes the Sprite Grande caravan line-up to four models, all with a particularly family-friendly theme. It also continues the Sprite heritage of excellent value for money (i.e. low prices).
Economy size
There are Sprites of all sizes for 2024, starting with the Compact, but the Grande Quattro EB caravan is up there with the biggest of the lot.
Grande means wide-bodied, of course, and that 2.46m width and 7.98m total length tell you this is a vehicle of sizeable proportions, with living space to match. Luckily, you get the added on-the-road stability of a twin axle chassis.
Bodywork, including the underside, is GRP-faced – indeed, the sides are GRP-clad (i.e. outers and inners), with a polyurethane framework, the only use of any wood being the ply upper for the floor. It all comes with the reassurance of Swift’s 10-year integrity warranty.
Fixing points for a bike rack at the back (maximum weight here is 50kg), the chrome finish to the grab handles, alloy wheels, and more are premium pointers. Only the downplayed graphics and one-piece, windowless main caravan door indicate cost savings.
There’s certainly enough of a luxury look to the exterior of the Sprite Grande Quattro EB caravan. And indeed inside, where a clean-cut theme sees practical features such as the stain-resistant Aquaclean finish to the upholstery.
Although it’s a standard-looking caravan floorplan, the Grande Quattro EB has few, if any direct rivals – certainly at this price point.
Not that it’s short on luxury. Arguably, an island double bed, as here, is the most comfortable sleeping arrangement you can get in any caravan. That Duvalay Strato mattress is a comfortable 1.91m x 1.43m, with wardrobes either side, sat on lockers that also give a handy ledge at mattress level.
The bed frame is hinged at the back, relatively easy to lift up for access to a generous storage area, although do note the spare wheel is housed in here.
You’ll also get two kids’ singles from the front settees – 1.80m long on the offside, 1.63m nearside. Or it doesn’t take two much cushion juggling to make a generous 2.25m x 1.63m transverse double bed.
You can also make sure you have night-time privacy thanks to the two solid doors between each sleeping area, which in turn create a full-width washroom area.
The most obvious cost-cutters in the Sprite Grande Quattro EB’s toilet room is the lack of a window and open upper shelving, rather than a more secure locker.
You still get a swivel-bowl toilet and a fixed basin, along with towel and toilet roll holders.
Directly across the floor from the toilet room is a sizeable shower cubicle, with an Ecocamel Jetstorm showerhead on a riser bar and marble-effect panelling.
The kitchen is along the offside, between the toilet room and the lounge. Its cooker has a three-burner gas hob and separate oven and grill, supplemented by a flatbed microwave oven which is set over the sink/worktop area.
A fridge capacity of 98 litres might seem a tad parsimonious for a family caravan, but there’s at least the facility to remove the 12-litre freezer compartment so the whole unit can be used for chilling food and drink.
There are plenty of other useful features throughout this Sprite Grande Quattro EB caravan. The chest of drawers has an extending worktop section if you don’t want to use the free-standing table – or you can have both set up at the same time, of course.
And the kitchen has a useful worktop extension.
Standard kit ranges from Truma Combi heating and hot water to a JVC DAB radio with Bluetooth and Kenwood speakers, and Status 570 TV/FM aerial. There’s also a good spread of LED lighting and USB sockets.
For sheer size versus price it’s a budget winner. It’s relatively low in weight, too. Do note the price quoted here is ex-works. Swift leaves it to its dealers to set an on-the-road cost, which can be an extra £500 or so to cover administration and pre-delivery checking, although plenty are happy not to.
Also, if you’re OK spending a little extra and want more luxury, do look out for dealers’ special edition versions, which invariably come with extra kit.
