Previously an optional extra, 2024 season Challenger Grande caravans come with the SE Pack as standard. That gives you ATC stability control, heavy-duty corner steadies, Al-Ko Secure wheel locks, side-lift jack, and external TV and cold water shower point. The Al-ko ATC and Secure devices will attract a discount on your caravan insurance.
As ever, though, it’s the floorplan that’s all-important. As well as that rear bedroom area for four, there’s a front lounge with twin settees either side of a conventional enough chest of drawers and reading lights with USBs as well as ambient lighting.
Centre-‘van are the kitchen and toilet room – both along the offside – plus a separate shower with folding door, Ecocamel Jetstorm showerhead and a drop-down rail that will be handy for hanging wet clothing to drip into the shower tray below.
As well as the usual swivel-bowl toilet and fixed handbasin, the toilet room boasts good storage.
There’s a locker over the toilet, a cubby beside it and a locker under the basin, also a bigger than usual rooflight.
The Swift Challenger Grande 670 SE’s kitchen includes a cooker with dual-fuel hob and separate oven and grill, plus a high-level, flat-bed microwave oven flanked by lockers. There’s a circular sink in stainless steel, next to which is a flip-up worktop extension. The drawer has a soft-close function, it’s over two lockers.
The fridge, meanwhile – a family-sized slimline Dometic 133-litre model – is just across the corridor.
Those equally vital bed dimensions are 2.18m x 1.78m or 1.82m x 0.73m for the front double or singles; then, at the back, the double is 1.99m x 1.22m (maximum) with adjacent fixed bunks 1.83m x 0.57m. The thinking behind the double and bunks arrangement at the back is if you have children that need to be sleeping as near to you as possible.
As ever, there’s a good all-round level of standard kit on board the Challenger Grande series. Alde central heating and hot water system. Waste bin in the one-piece habitation door. 100Watt solar panel. 30-lite fresh water tank. Status 570 directional TV aerial. Omnivent for the kitchen area. Two wardrobes. The stereo system lacks DAB, but does have Bluetooth connectivity, with its speakers neatly housed in the console connecting the fixed sunroof and opening Midi Heki rooflight.
Exterior styling is slick. Bodywork is backed by a 10-year warranty and includes side walls with outer and inner GRP skins, with the fully-bonded roof and front panels also boasting a GRP exterior.
If you want a full six-berth, family caravan these days, there are choices but things are a bit limited. You’re certainly going to need a hefty towcar.
Swift prefers to quote an ex-works price for its caravans, leaving it up to its retailers to decide their own on-the-road charge. You’ll want to budget for anything up to £500 here… but you can still consider the Swift Challenger Grande 670 SE caravan a big bargain.

Nice caravan except for the sleeping arrangements. From experience we would want the children at the other end and not next to us. The idea of four bunks at the back is more our style although our kids are long gone.
