Part of the Auto-Trail portfolio here in the UK, Italian marque Roller Team is behind two Livingstone van conversions making their debut for 2024.
Meet a real price-basher
They’re playing safe with the floorplans – the 6 Sport here, for example, has twin rear single beds and a lounge at the front. And it’s just 6m long. But it’s that £56,990 starting price that’s the real eye-catcher.
It’s based on Fiat’s Ducato van with 2.2-litre, 140bhp engine and six-speed manual transmission as standard – a fairly refined and economical combination that will suffice for most buyers, although there are options to upgrade.
In this video we take a look around the all-new Roller Team Livingstone 6 Sport campervan:
As standard, the layout of the Roller Team Livingstone 6 Sport campervan offers sleeping accommodation for two and belted travel for up to four.
Thereafter comes some flexibility. It’s pricy, but the elevating roof option takes the sleeping quota up to four. Or, if you want a more occasional bed from the lounge seating, that’s also available as an extra.
That lounge is made by swivelling the cab seats. There’s also a forward-facing bench seat with integral head restraints and a rather upright backrest, while the table rests on a rail and has a swing-out extension section that makes it feasible for four to sit down and dine.
The sliding door is on the driver’s side, and it’s no shock to find the kitchen just inside here (there’s also a rail to attach the table when you want to use it outside). The only surprise is there’s just the one gas ring for cooking.
The amount of permanent worktop is a bonus, though. And there’s an oven, but its location might be too low for some folk. The fridge, meanwhile, takes up most of the low-level storage space, with its door at the end of the unit making it accessible from outside as well as in – with its dual-hinged door making things even easier. It’s a Dometic compressor model with a 70-litre capacity, flanked by vertical LED strip lights
The solid washroom door has a domestic-style handle. A swivel-bowl toilet is the dominant feature in here, accompanied by a flip-down handbasin, plus a shower fitting that clips to the ceiling. There’s also a curtain to pull around you whilst showering and two plug holes in the shower tray, but they’re small in diameter.
There’s a window, again a real bonus for ventilation in what starts out as a budget van conversion. There’s still a roof vent here, too. And there’s space for lockers over the toilet, as well as a mirror and toilet roll holder.
At the back of the Roller Team Livingstone 6 Sport campervan, those beds have Sleep Comfort mattresses, with dimensions of 2.03m x 0.68m and 1.750m x 0.75m for the offside and nearside singles respectively. If you want to make it into a double, bars are supplied to bridge the gap between the bases, which are metal-framed with slats for extra comfort, support and ventilation. They’re also hinged for access to the storage below.
You might notice the noise when travelling is a bit less than its Ducato-based rivals. Credit for that goes to the Extreme Protection System (ExPS), which includes polyurethane foam side wall insulation, a roof covering of polyester fibre with aluminium fill and a sandwich floor layer.
There are plenty of other details that take the Livingston campervan beyond just being a budget-beater. The flyscreen across the sliding door will always be a practical feature in a vehicle like this.
Upper level lockers are in a gloss white finish that looks like they’ll be easy to wipe clean. There’s a rather smart overcab area – there might be no form of sunroof, but there’s some neat panelling and side cubby storage. And the interior lighting includes reading lamps on stalks that include USB portals in their bases.
The price is kept down by just the one choice of upholstery and furniture finish, plus the Truma Combi 4 heating and hot water system is gas-only. There’s just the one external colour choice, too – white.
You really need to budget for Pack Livingstone which, at £995, gives you concertina cab blinds, an electric step at the sliding door, Midi Heki rooflight, a solar panel and an LED awning light. You’ll also need to speak to your supplying retailer for a good deal on a stereo/infotainment system.
