For the 2024 season, Elddis’s Autoquest CV40 campervan is a four-berth for travel, with three beds.
We take a look around the new Elddis Autoquest CV40 campervan here:
Ringing the van conversion changes
It stays on the medium length (i.e. 6m) Fiat Ducato van base. Standard equipment is up, too, thanks to incorporating many of the comforts that were previously part of the Lux Pack – cab air conditioning, cruise control and more – into the standard specification listing.
This van conversion also comes with the 140bhp engine as standard now, which gives a decent enough turn of performance allied to economy. Nevertheless, automatic transmission and/or an uplift to the more powerful 180bhp engine are worth considering if they fall within your budget.
The Elddis Autoquest CV40 campervan floorplan comprises an end lounge with twin inward-facing settees as well as, up front, a forward-facing double travel seat, with Isofix, that forms a lounge with the swivelled cab seats once you’re parked up on site. There’s an extending table here, too.
Making the main bed is a simple task of pulling both settee bases together and filling in with the backrests for a 1.85m x 1.30m transverse double. There’s a third sleeping berth – made from the front lounge seating.
That rear lounge has opening windows to all three sides (all with their own concertina blinds), higher backrests to the settees compared to some rivals, upper-level lockers along each side, four individually switched reading lights, flatscreen TV holder, and – like the front lounge – an opening roof light. There’s also a dedicated locker for the free-standing table.
Light-coloured upholstery and furniture finish contribute to a roomy feel throughout the living quarters, although as is often the case with a layout like this, there’s an inevitable pinch point between the washroom and kitchen.
The kitchen holds no surprises with its location, mid-‘van along the nearside, just inside the sliding door. It has a small but handy worktop extension, and there are four neat drawers just inside the door – a location that means they can also be reached from outside.
The sink has a loose cover (you’ll need to find somewhere safe to stow it for safe travel) and there’s a Thetford Triplex cooker (three gas burners and a combined oven and grill). Two lockers are overhead, neither of them shelved), although you’ll lose one of these if you go for the microwave oven optional extra.
The fridge, an 87-litre Thetford compressor model, with a freezer, is set conveniently high.
The washroom has a swivel-bowl toilet and a circular countertop basin, with a curtain that extends around for showering. The shower itself extends from the washbasin tap, with a single position for holding it.
The only storage is a high-level locker with double mirror doors and open shelving to either side. A toothbrush mug, couple of hooks and a toilet roll holder complete the washroom picture.
There’s a decent level of specification in the Elddis Autoquest CV40 campervan. An underslung gas tank is standard which, along with the Whale heating and hot water systems, helps optimise internal storage.
Also on the standard kit list are a flyscreen for the sliding door, Teleco omni-directional TV aerial, handy storage in the overcab area, removable floor carpet sections, an electric step for the sliding door and an awning light.
Elddis has the main bases covered as far as factory-fitted options are concerned. Of course, if you want more than a standard Autoquest CV40 campervan can offer – and are prepared to pay for it – there are plenty of dealers’ special edition versions out there to go and view.
