It’s pricey, but bear with us. Based on the longest version Fiat’s venerable Ducato, with extra high roof, the Coachman Affinity One represents highly regarded caravan manufacturer Coachman’s first venture into the van conversion sector of the motorhome market.
In this video, we take a look inside the 2024 Coachman Affinity One campervan:
In a zone of its own?
It’s built in Poland for Coachman and includes a double floor (rare for a van conversion) as well as extra insulation, both of which bode well for year-round use.
The Coachman Affinity One campervan also comes with the top spec’ 180bhp engine and nine-speed automatic transmission as standard. Although viewed here as a left hand drive, UK models will be offered with the steering wheel on the right.
The cab is also particularly well specified, coming with automatic air conditioning, Fiat’s own infotainment system, leather steering wheel with controls and more.
If you think it still only amounts to a standard van conversion, please look again. For starters, the interior boasts a layout like no other and seems particularly roomy.
It might be a typical front lounge campervan layout – with its double forward-facing travel seat – but there’s very neat storage for the table, as it partially slots upright into the side bulkhead when not needed.
You’ll also find a couple of drinks holders here, handy for on-site use as well as for rear seat travellers. The table itself isn’t the widest, however, especially if you are considering catering for four.
There’s also a rather unique way of making the 1.82m x 0.67m bed from the rear travel seat (itself very much in an automotive style), with the whole back rest folding over to create the mattress, whilst an extra section of bed extends into the locker space under the kitchen (although just bear in mind it does steal vital storage).
The Affinity One’s main bed is a 1.92m x 1.29m permanent French double at the back, with the washroom alongside – again, a configuration more likely to be seen in a coachbuilt motorhome.
This bed also comes with electric height adjustment so you can accommodate larger loads below, as needed, whilst it’s particularly easy to access for sleeping when fully lowered.
That washroom is large enough to include a Dometic toilet and a fold-down handbasin, plus the whole room becomes a shower cubicle, when necessary – with the tap fitting extending out to clip on the ceiling.
The side walls are all plastic while there’s a removable wooden duckboard underfoot.
Truma’s Combi 4E provides the heating and hot water. And again, at 110 and 100 litres respectively, the fresh and waster water tanks are of capacities you’re more likely to get with a coachbuilt than a van conversion.
Again, unique in design for a van conversion, the Coachman Affinity One’s kitchen is L-shaped, which allows it to offer a lot of permanent worktop.
It houses a two-ring hob and separate sink, plus there’s a Dometic 90-litre fridge, while an Omnivent rooflight above will take care of unwanted cooking fumes.
Details throughout point to the premium nature of this campervan. The leisure battery is a 120Ah lithium unit, the Thule awning is standard, the solar panel is rated at 240Watts, tap fittings have a chrome finish, there’s a shower for external use just inside the rear door (where you’ll also find the toilet cassette. There’s even space for a TV locker and bracket, in a location that suggest you can watch the box from the lounge or while you’re in bed.
Indeed, such is the overall specification of the Affinity One campervan, Coachman says it’s not offering any factory-fit extras. Your supplying dealer will be keen to offer a satellite TV system, on-board WiFi and more, of course.
While there’s no shortage of upmarket Fiat-based van conversions, none has the same floorplan as the Coachman Affinity One. And few come close for quality.

An L shaped kitchen is not unique to this van conversion. We have a 5.4 metre long Autocruise Jazz van conversion with an L shaped kitchen which has much more worktop space than this, and also includes an oven and grill and a microwave.
The wardrobe looks very small and unless I’ve missed it there doesn’t appear to be a bathroom cabinet.
It seems very expensive and not a good layout.
How is anybody going to pay such a high amount for such a very poor layout, the caravan manufacturers need to look more closely at the market which is rapidly declining because of greed
Clever bits but I think I’ll stick with my Globecar Campscout with the big fridge, decent size table+extension and better storage under the twin beds. The attempt to copy a double bed with a toilet/shower alongside in a van has only resulted in a very small unit which will be used as a toilet only. I don’t use the shower very often but when I do it’s at least a decent size.
Good article, need to mention there still isn’t an example in the UK nearly 2 years after launch doesn’t matter how good it is if you can’t physically see one or buy one.
