From the six-strong Pegasus Grande GT75 caravan line-up, this is the sole single-axle model with an island bed at the very back (sister Messina is the twin axle alternative).
We take a look around the Bailey Pegasus Grande GT75 Portofino caravan:
The GT75 moniker is a reminder that 2024 sees Bailey celebrating its 75th anniversary as a caravan manufacturer, while Grande denotes the 2.45m maximum width allowed in the UK for touring caravans.
A luxury caravan lifestyle choice
That rear bed extends out to its fullest 1.91m length (it’s an equally impressive 1.54m at its widest point) and is flanked by wardrobes, ledges and lockers.
There are also lockers overhead – taller folk might struggle to sit upright in bed – with a shelved section in the centre. Plus, opening windows to either side with Remis concertina blinds and flyscreens.
The bed itself also lifts up easily enough for access to the extensive storage area underneath.
To the foot of the bed, this master bedroom has lockers, fittings for a TV, and a corner area with a mirror that could well act as a dressing unit.
Moving forward in the Bailey Pegasus Grande GT75 Portofino caravan, the washroom facilities are split between a shower cubicle on the nearside and toilet room offside.
The former is over the wheel arch which makes for a handy step whilst showering. It’s all fully lined and, apart from the shower fitting – on a riser bar, but there’s just a single plughole – the only other fittings here are a rooflight and a downlighter.
The toilet room door can also be used to keep everything en-suite and separated from the kitchen and lounge. It lacks a window, but there’s a swivel-bowl toilet and fixed, square (ish), countertop basin.
Storage is provided by a high-level locker with shelves, next to a mirror. Details include a toilet roll holder, a single hook, a couple more hooks on the back of the door, and a rooflight.
Unsurprisingly, it’s a standard Bailey kitchen in the Bailey Pegasus Grande GT75 Portofino caravan, with signature features such as a hinged section of worktop that sits over the hob. The cooker is a Thetford model with three gas rings, electric hotplate and separate oven and grill.
Immediately to the left of the hob is the stainless steel, circular sink, to the left of which is an area of permanent worktop (a slight surprise, a worktop extension is only available as a factory-fitted option). You do, however, get two mains sockets, plus a window surround that also acts as a splash panel.
A ceramic flatbed microwave oven is a standard offering, although its location – directly above the hob – won’t be liked by all.
Across the corridor is a unit housing a Dometic fridge (103-litre capacity) as well as a “sound station” with a dock for a Sonos Bluetooth loudspeaker, plus mains and 12V sockets, and a phone charger pad with USB outlets.
Elsewhere, features of note range from the Truma solar panel to Hartal stable door, pre-wiring for on-board Wi-Fi, as well as an electric motor mover, Truma Combi 4 heating and hot water system, exterior gas barbecue point and 230V socket and Status 570 TV aerial.
Up front in the Bailey Pegasus Grande GT75 Portofino caravan, the lounge settees are long enough to convert into single beds (1.80m x 0.62m). They also come together to make a transverse double, maximum dimensions 2.12m x 1.35m.
There’s also Bailey’s modern approach to a three-window front – where the central unit sweeps up through the roofline to meet an opening skylight.
The side windows are a generous size, too. It all means a particularly light and breezy lounge area, with effective blackout easily achieved at night.
As is the way with so many new caravans, Bailey treads a fairly fine line with its 155kg payload allowance. Even a chassis upgrade will still only get you an extra 26kg.
But it’s packed with safety and security features, such as Al-Ko ATC, a Tracker Retrieve S7 tracking system and a receiver for fitting an Al-Ko Secure Lock, which will attract a healthy discount on your caravan insurance with Caravan Guard.
