You’ll struggle to find a caravan as stylish as this. Or indeed as big. The Swift Elegance Grande 845 is a near-8m long, 8ft (2.45m) wide leisure vehicle that promises – indeed, delivers – a super, spacious interior.
It’s the newest member of a three-model caravan range, all twin axles, all with an island double as its main bed (with differing orientations depending on model) sharing the same dimensions and even starting price.
A Grande gesture
Talking of dimensions, that island bed extends out to 1.84m x 1.33m, while the front double is also transverse, 2.18m x 1.53m (or, if you’re catering for smaller children here, you could leave it as 1.53m x 0.70m singles).
Its GRP-bodied, including the underfloor, all backed by a 10-year bodyshell warranty. Looks-wise, everything about the Elegance Grande caravan – from the graphics to the alloy wheels, even the awning lights on both sides and the 100Watt solar panel – shouts luxury, the only slight surprise being the windows aren’t flush-fitting.
Inside the Swift Elegance Grande 845 caravan, faux leather upholstery keeps up the premium appeal. There are no surprises with this caravan floorplan – it’s the highly popular transverse island bed, full-width end washroom format that you’ll find in almost any caravan range at all price levels.
The 845 has a relatively short twin settee lounge – with a large bulkhead section that includes a slide-out table top and a couple of drawers. Also here is a phone charger pad with two USB ports.
Swift Elegance kitchens have been improved for 2023, too. The L-shape to the main unit on the offside means more worktop and storage space – the former also benefiting from an extra large flip-up extension, while the latter includes a single drawer under the sink, and two more drawers behind the door beneath that.
There’s a cutlery drawer in the kitchen’s curved section, with two more drawers in the locker underneath.
The Thetford cooker has a cast-iron grate to its dual-fuel hob – which gets a neatly concealed extractor unit – and the circular sink to its left is inset. The flatbed microwave oven is over the sink, a preferred location for most folk (compared to above the hob).
There’s also room for a Dometic 177-litre fridge with removable freezer directly across the corridor. You’ll also find a high-level, illuminated drinks cabinet here.
Like the kitchen, the Swift Elegance Grande 845 washroom has it all… nearly. The fixed basin is inset, and there’s lots of locker and open shelf storage, whilst overhead are an Omnivent and a rooflight, side-by-side – between them, they partially negate the lack of a washroom window of any sort.
The separate shower cubicle is fully plastic-lined and the Ecocamel Jetstorm shower and riser bar are neatly tucked out of sight. It does cry out for a second plughole, however.
Extra premium touches include the shaver point and backlit mirror.
Comfort on that island bed is pretty much guaranteed thanks to its Duvalay Apollo Luxe mattress. What looks like two wardrobes on either side of the foot of the bed is in fact one, the other being a unit that opens out to act as a dresser, complete with a mirror and shelving.
There are three roof lockers over the bed itself, but there should still be room to sit up fully. Sockets for a TV are next to the window at the foot of the bed.
Equipment wise, it’s hard to see what Swift has missed here. The Alde system includes underfloor heating. An electric sunroof over the island bed. There’s also storage in the bed base, although the freshwater tank steals space here.
Concealed catches throughout add to the sleekness of the furniture. And the Swift Command app allows you to monitor and operate many of the fittings remotely.
Plus the Swift Elegance Grande 845 caravan is packed with safety and security features. From axle wheel locks to an alarm, tracking device and AL-KO ATC, you’ll be able to get some money off your caravan insurance.
OK, you’ll have to add your own caravan TV. And you might want to ask your supplying dealer about a roof-mounted air conditioner unit to help seal a super stylish deal!

Verdict: Twin axle titan marries style and space
Plus: Superior feel and specification, much-favoured floorplan
Minus: It’s not cheap, one shower plughole, no washroom window
In-a-nutshell: Grande by name…and nature
Alternatives: Buccaneer Cruiser, Coachman Laser Xcel 875
