A twin axle, wide-bodied newcomer that fully lives up to the Grande title, the Evora caravan takes Bailey’s Alicanto Grandes up to three models. All with island double beds. But, it’s the Evora that offers a transverse double with a full-width washroom across the back.
A Grande statement
A two-tonne-plus vehicle for towing is the requirement here, but that – along with the wide body – is unlikely to put off most would-be owners. And it’s that bed and washroom arrangement that’s going to have the most appeal. And arguably the most rivals, because this is a floorplan that’s been a hot favourite for the past handful of years now, and is offered by all the UK manufacturers at varying price points.
In this video we take a look inside the 2023 Bailey Alicanto Grande Evora caravan:
There’s just a small differentiating point compared to others, though: the Bailey Alicanto Grande Evora’s bed is not hemmed in by wardrobes at each side of the head end. You still get handy ledges each side of the bed, however, but the overall feel is of more space generally.
And don’t worry. The sole wardrobe is large, with an angled front and two hanging rails inside.
The bed itself is retractable, for when you want extra floor space and easier access to the washroom beyond. In truth, you might easily find you don’t need such a feature. Bailey describes the island double as “king size”, thanks to its 1.90m x 1.53m/1.50m maximum dimensions. It has the supportive comfort of a pocket-sprung mattress, too.
There’s also lots of space in the bed base itself, of course, accessed by lifting up the main bed frame on pneumatic struts. Alternatively, there’s exterior access, but it’s not the biggest hatch.
Matching up to the bed, in terms of magnificence, is the full-width washroom in this Alicanto Grande Evora caravan. Here, you get a particularly spacious, plastic-lined shower cubicle at the opposite end of the washroom to the toilet and window. So that also leaves lots of room for dressing etc.
The shower benefits from a riser bar, while the moulded panel for your shampoo bottles is a neat addition. The only surprise is just the single plughole in the shower tray.
There are upper- and lower-level double-doored lockers. The latter is under the basin, where you’ll also find a useful, integrated ledge. There’s also lots of countertop around the handbasin. There should be no problems keeping cosy, either. The ladder radiator is part of the Alde central heating and hot water system.
At the other end of the Evora is a familiar enough twin-settee arrangement that curves into the very front of the caravan, separated by a chest of two drawers and a floor locker, with a slide-out tabletop. Scatter cushions and corner head restraints add to the comfort.
There’s a free-standing main dining table for here but its storage location – on the underside of the island bed – doesn’t make for the easiest of manoeuvrings around the ‘van.
Lounge storage is also covered by a mix of large and small side upper lockers. That extra-long central window-cum-sunroof – Bailey calls it a “vertical infinity window” – is flanked by much smaller opening units.
Downlighters and speakers are neatly housed in the plastic surround for the rooflight.
The kitchen is L-shaped and sports all the facilities you’d expect – full cooker, microwave (fixed plate), sufficient worktop to provide some permanent drainer space to the left of the circular sink etc. Also, distinguishing features include the worktop cover for the hob and the four-bottle wine racking. The fridge/freezer has a mighty 153-litre total capacity.
There’s a fair amount of “tech” in the Bailey Alicanto Grande Evora, too. You’re greeted by a smartphone charging pad with two USB ports on the ledge as you step in.
A sprinkling of USBs throughout elsewhere. An on-board Wi-Fi system from Avtex. Status TV aerial. Two mounting points for a TV (just the one bracket is supplied by Bailey). External satellite socket. And a JVC DAB radio with Bluetooth connectivity.
And on the safety and security front there’s a high security exterior door lock, tyre pressure monitoring system, AL-KO ATC trailer control system, two ALKO Secure wheel locks, a TRACKER Monitor Thatcham Cat 7 tracking device and TRACKER alarm with tilt sensor, to help save some money on your caravan insurance premium.
It’s built like all Alicantos. That is, Bailey’s Alu-Tech fully bonded bodyshell using aluminium and plastic frameworks and main panels that are GRP-faced on the outside as well as the inside. Al-Ko provides the running gear. The bodywork (six years) and manufacturing (three) warranties are transferable to future owners, too.

Lovely caravan but the weight means its never going to be towed by an electric vehicle…..
