Waving at a flagship!
Not that many mainstream caravans make you go wow… so sit back and take a look at this! From Adria, it’s one of two models in its Alpina flagship range – sister model is the Mississippi with transverse island double bed.
The Adria Alpina Colorado, under the spotlight here, majors on permanent single beds and a full-width rear washroom.
Alpina has always been a modern-looking tourer. The latest, streamlined look sports three large windows across the front that, at first glance, look like a single piece. Flush-fitting side windows keep up that wind-cheating appeal and, while the lounge ones are relatively small there’s also an opening sunroof that follows the curve of the roofline. With the silver/grey finish to the GRP bodywork, you’re getting a very modern exterior look.
Note, also, features such as the electric slide-out step, stable door with window (there’s also a waste bin on the inside), chunky grab handles, mock roof rails and heavy-duty corner steadies. The latter is something of an essential. If you haven’t guessed, this is a hefty caravan that nevertheless offers the towing reassurance of a twin axle.
Typical Adria, it has a long drawbar, too. Perfect for adding a bike rack if your towbar has sufficient noseweight capacity. That’s also a solid front locker door.
Indeed, the Alpina Colorado is a genuine all-season caravan, with features such as enhanced floor insulation (a critical extra 4mm of Styrofoam) complementing the Alde central heating and hot water system. Lots of luxury trappings are here, from extensive interior lighting (direct and ambient) to a Bluetooth amplifier and fitted speakers.
In keeping with Adria’s desire to do things just a little bit differently, the lounge is U-shaped, complete with corner head restraints and higher than average backrests. The central seating section can be removed to make way for a small flip-up work surface, should you wish.
The upper lockers have concealed catches and a noticeable inward curve to the doors (it just adds to the feeling of space), complete with a gloss off-white finish that’s, again, currently very popular. On the practical side, they’re properly lined and deeper than most and those surfaces promise to be easy to wipe clean.
A long stretch of kitchen along the offside has the by now familiar (to Adria watchers) three-ring hob and sink combination. Again, it doesn’t just look modern, it’s practical and very space-efficient – allowing worktop space all around it.
A separate oven and grill, plus microwave, complete the cooking facilities, while the three large drawers are brilliant for easy-access storage, and the slim, large capacity (143 litres) fridge is de rigueur in any caravan aspiring to the luxury, modern monikers – plus, it’s set off floor level for easy access.
Moving on from the Alpina Colorado’s kitchen zone, there are two generous single beds with adjustable backrest facility, with hanging wardrobes at the foot of each. Even with the presence of the Alde header tank and circuit breakers in the offside one, there’s still plenty of hanging space.
Despite the generous lengths of those single beds (1.99m and 1.85m) there’s still oceans of space at the back for the full-width washroom. There’s a solid door access, to the usual toilet/basin/shower facilities – a central “salad bowl” basin set over a double-doored locker, plus a swivel-bowl Thetford loo with opaque window behind it.
Handy fittings include two mirrors, a short hanging rail, a slim storage unit with slide-out racking, pull-out towel holder and more.
The shower has a fancy outlet, folding doors, its own rooflight and a hanging rail for wet clothing etc. It’s slightly strange there’s no riser bar for the shower, and there’s only a small-diameter plug hole.
There are just a few other niggles. There’s only a small rooflight in the ceiling over the single beds. And, although all windows have flyscreens and blind cassettes, the latter are standard rollers only (rather than concertina).
That aside, the Adria Alpina Colorado is a thoroughly well-made caravan that doesn’t fail to impress with its contemporary feel and fittings.
Let’s take a look inside in this video:
Verdict: Wide appeal for modernity
Plus: Well screwed together, roomy layout
Minus: Some washroom details, pricey
In-a-nutshell: Contemporary caravan

Well done Adria for dumping the concertina roof lights. 1 they let in reflected light badly and 2 you can’t open the roof light a smidgen without them fluttering loudly! Assume Brit manufacturers don’t actually use their products. Sorry. Tempted with this Adria.
