It’s the Super bit of the name that’s key here. Introduced for the 2018 season, there are two models in the Sprite caravan range, sporting extra-wide 8-foot bodies and twin axles – hence the Super addition to the name.
Arguably, it’s the DB variant here that’s the more family-friendly caravan – if you have younger children – thanks to its double bunk beds in the rear nearside corner (from the outside, those two rear windows confirm what to expect).
Nevertheless, up close there’s no getting away from the fact that this is a big caravan. Which also translates into lots of lovely living space.
The habitation door has a magnetic catch to keep it suitably flush to the bodywork when open, without causing undue obstruction to the fridge vents.
Once you’re inside, it’s easy to see how the Quattro DB caravan offers sleeping and living accommodation for up to six. There’s certainly plenty of seating, should you also wish to entertain guests.
As well as the 1.80m long front settees, there’s a U-shaped lounge area mid-‘van, with a fixed pedestal leg table that can be lowered when it comes to bedmaking.
Plus, there’s a rear mini seat and table on a pedestal leg below the back window and immediately next to the bunks – just for the kids?
Those front settees are either side of a wider than average chest of drawers, plus there’s space on the front bulkhead for all manner of sockets, including USBs.
The second main lounge is almost directly opposite the kitchen, where you’ll find a Thetford cooker with three gas rings on the hob and a separate oven and grill.
There’s a sink to its right and a fridge under the generous stretch of permanent worktop to the right. True it’s not the biggest caravan fridge!
A full-sized wardrobe occupies the space between the kitchen and the aforementioned bunk beds.
Indeed, there’s a second wardrobe, between the washroom and the U-shaped seating area. Storage elsewhere is good, too, with plenty of overhead lockers as well as space in the settee bases. If anything, it’s only the immediate kitchen area that struggles for its own locker areas.
It’s a commendably roomy washroom in the rear offside corner. The shower cubicle – complete with Ecocamel showerhead – is at its furthest point, with a swivel-bowl toilet in the middle and an angled, fixed hand basin just inside the door.
The open shelving over the toilet can only come into play once you’re on-site, of course, but there’s a small locker under the basin.
Despite its budget pricing, this Sprite doesn’t miss out on goodies such as the Swift Command system.
It’s the Diamond Pack that’s the essential top-up here. For £610, it adds a DAB/FM radio, alloy wheels, Al-Ko Secure receivers to two wheels, Al-Ko AKS 3004 stabiliser, habitation door flyscreen, microwave oven and a couple of scatter cushions.
No surprise, then, you’ll struggle to find a Sprite Super Quattro DB without it. If anything, it adds to the sheer bargain of this caravan.
Two other extras to consider are the sunroof for the lounge and Al-Ko’s ATC (Trailer Control). The former explains itself, but it’s quite a smart move by Swift, considering such items can divide opinion. ATC, however, might just give you added reassurance when it comes to towing – even though you can expect the Sprite Super to have the usual impeccable road manners you’d associate with any twin axle tourer – with the added bonus it’ll save you a little on your caravan insurance.
Verdict: Ideal for caravanners who are big on families
Plus: Competitive pricing, flexible seating and sleeping
Minus: Small fridge, basic washroom
