It might not be your typical first choice of tourer, but for those looking to venture into towing and taking a step up from camping under canvas or even those wishing to downsize, it’s certainly one to consider. And you’ll most definitely make heads turn on the campsite.
These cute caravans might be small but it doesn’t mean you can’t have some big adventures, as they’re light enough to hitch up to almost any car – from a small hatchback to a family estate. And you won’t need a motor mover to ease your way onto your pitch.
Weighing in at just 445kg they’re super-easy to set up.
This dinky Caretta caravan has a retro design and also comes in a rugged, all-terrain version – the Caretta Off Road.
Made in Turkey, the Caretta Caravan UK range are being sold by Goe Automotive in Cheshire.
This Caretta 1500 has all terrain tyres and chassis protective bars, so there’s no reason why you can’t go wild camping!
Inside, it’s all very modest, and is taken up by the large double bed, 1.5m x 2m, along with two overhead cabinets, two LED lights and a handy storage shelve with net. You can jump in from either side – both doors have windows with mosquito nets, sun shades and storage pockets.
Plus, there’s a sunroof for a spot of star gazing at night!
Food prep and washing is done from the outside, at the back of the Caretta. Here there’s a lift up hatch, which reveals your kitchen area, complete with a 35 litre coolbox, sink and tap – which also doubles up as a shower, plus a one-burner stove.
There’s a set of under and over-sink lockers with sliding up and across metallic doors and a small worktop. A table sits on a lip above the undersink locker, but is probably more suitable for preparing meals and getting stuff out of the lockers, than eating at. You’ll get 45 litres of water for washing and showering after dinner.
It’s also wired for sound and on the list of optional extras you can add a TV, DVD player and radio. Plus, there’s a bespoke awning for the Caretta 1500 – invaluable to increase the limited living and seating space available. There’s an awning light fitted to the off side door to light up this space.
At the front of this classic teardrop design, there’s a locker giving access to the 40Amp leisure battery and the electricals, as well as space for other camping essentials, and the EHU point.
The Caretta 1500 promises to be easy to tow, with its aerodynamic spoiler, complete with Al-Ko braked chassis and sticky-out running lights at the back.
If you’re looking for some fun adventures on a small budget that won’t cost a lot to insure, with the Caretta 1500 you’ll be able to just hitch up and go!

The Caretta 2 can be towed with a standard driving licence, so there’s no need to take the B + E test.

Verdict: Modern and eye-catching, the Caretta 1500 will definitely make head turns and offers sleeping comfort. It’s got the looks, it’s light and it should work well for some big outdoor adventures.
