The Swift Elegance 480 is at the top end of caravan design and décor, designed for a couple keen to spend their leisure time in luxury. It’s an age-old layout with an end washroom, offside kitchen with a sideboard opposite, and parallel seating with a centre chest of drawers. We reviewed the 2014 Swift Elegance 580 earlier in April.
The kitchen has an underslung round sink set into an acrylic stone worktop, with an extension flap to give that little bit of extra space.
A small cupboard under the sink houses the freestanding draining board and a neat pullout wire basket, ideal for all those items that would clutter up the worktop. A new design oven with grill and three burner dual fuel also feature. The stainless steel splash back is illuminated as is the mirrored cocktail cabinet.
The living area is certainly designed for those who like to chill out and enjoy the state of pure relaxation, with dimmable spotlights, a panoramic roof light, pillar lights, down lighting in the ceiling and connections for USB and iPod in the binnacle so you can create an ambience to suit you.
The shower room doesn’t lack in luxury either, with stereo speakers, a light in the wardrobe, hooks, a space-saving bi-fold shower door, a light in the shower, a cupboard under the basin and plenty of storage for two people.
Fabrics and wood colour are commensurate with the luxurious ambience with curved upper locker doors, in a high gloss Aralie Sen finish with contrasting cream frames and coordinating locker fronts in the kitchen.
Green credentials include energy efficient LED lighting and a water saving Ecocamel shower head in the shower room.
The Elegance will qualify for insurance discounts due to its standard fit Tracker Retrieve, AL-KO Secure wheel lock (new for 2015 models), alarm and AL-KO ATC anti-snaking.
The Swift Elegance is pre-wired for a motor mover, an interesting new feature on 2015 models.
Verdict
The Swift Elegance is what it says on the tin; a top of the range, well-specified touring caravan designed for all year round use in all weathers, and for long or short stays.
