The Swift Eccles Moonstone has a traditional four berth caravan layout with an end shower room, nearside kitchen with a dinette opposite and a lounge area with a centre chest of drawers. It has the necessary traditional equipment but inside, a contemporary interior style takes over.
The shower room is accessed via a domestic style white door; the basin is ahead with a back-lit mirror, with storage around and under it. The shower tray, to the right is rectangular with a bi-fold door and a hanging rail whilst the wardrobe set to the left of the basin has an interior light. Natural light comes from the roof light and the opaque window. The kitchen has the new Aspire dual fuel hob, with oven and grill supplemented by a microwave oven. The round sink is stylish granite effect set in a cool white worktop with a snazzy acrylic back-lit splash back. Living and dining and sleeping become a flexible layout, dependent on whether it’s used by a couple or a family of four. Eating at the side dinette is a practical option for a couple that want to leave the front end made up as a sleeping area, or convert the dinette to a sleeping area for the youngsters. The soft furnishing scheme is bold; put ruby red with dark chocolate and you have the idea. There are four different wall boards used, three of which are also non-traditional but despite the interior’s size, it’s not at all in your face. Carpets are removable and there is a front rug, so you could take out the carpets and just use the deep pile rug. With low energy LED lighting throughout as down lighters, over locker lights, task lights and low level night lights and an Ecocamel water saving shower hose and head, Moonstone is doing its bit to help the planet.
Verdict
Definitely a caravan for those who want to move away from a traditional interior design scheme as it oozes modern, contemporary caravan interior décor. It’s like Marmite! Purchased ours in 2015, Great van easy to clean, bright and modern, unlike the dreary old false wood effect finishes of previous vans. When we moved house from the midlands to the south we had to live in it for 3 months due to house renovations and it was great. Love it to bits and the heating is much better than the old blown air.
Top class modern van.
Looks just like a refrigerator. Very chilly!
Ugh!!!. I agree with the other gentleman that said it looked cold & clinical. The only warmth comes from the cushions, it looks like being in a Hospital waiting room. I like a van to look snug & cosy, the seating looks very plain and uncomfortable. At the end of the day we all have different tastes so I suppose someone will like it, but not me.
Will it leak
We have a 2014 Moonstone, love the interior works very well indeed we found it very refreshing after 25 years of imitation wood. We sat in one at the NEC show lots of times in the day visited other vans on display, then came home and went to our local dealer and eventually made the decision we still felt unsure. First night away we arrive late wife inside van me getting water, came back to the van and it looked superb with the interior lights on with the interior trim. One of our best ever decisions.
Wow, like it. That’s what a caravan should look like inside…
Don’t like it, it looks cold and clinical. I also don’t like the fridge being on the same side as the awning, as this makes the fridge work extra hard because the vents are inside the awning, it’s also the sunny side of the van.
