The Lunar Lexon 590/4 is a new model for the 2015 season. It uses a fixed bed layout but with fixed single beds. Unusually it has a shower room at the midpoint on the offside with the kitchen on the nearside.
The exterior graphics and colours are certainly striking and modern and the rear light clusters aren’t overly chunky; the integral rain gutter over the door has a light.
The kitchen has glossy cream upper locker doors, high impact charcoal work surfaces, a round black sink with a black and chrome tap. With the fridge, hob, oven with a grill and a microwave you’ve got all the basics you need including a power point for a free standing appliance.
Opposite the kitchen is the shower room, and because of its location, it’s perfectly adequate but obviously not as roomy as an end shower room. There is a light in the shower and a useful hanging rail.
Living and dining is done at the front of the caravan, which features parallel seats and a centre chest of drawers with a pullout table. The free standing table is stored in the kitchen. The soft furnishings are called Kyla design, with Aubergine highlights and blend well with the Montana Oak wood grain cabinetry which has horizontal chrome bands.
Green credentials include energy saving LED lighting throughout, even in the shower and for the awning light. The Truma 6KW Isotherm heating and hot water system uses less energy than previous models, so that’s a step forward in energy conservation.
AL-KO ATC trailer control, AL-KO shock absorbers and AL-KO Secure receiver are all fitted as standard but you may want to add optional extra security features like AL-KO wheel lock (cost £239.00) and this will reflect in the cost to insure this caravan.
Verdict
Twin bed layouts are becoming more popular, and this caravan has a design twist with the midpoint shower room, which may appeal to some people over an end washroom, but the wardrobe set between the beds may not encourage pillow talk!
