Check out our latest review of the Elddis Xplore 304 here
The Elddis Xplore 530 caravan is new to the Xplore range and is constructed using the company’s new SoLiD manufacturing technique and built on a BPW Vtec swing chassis. Various other new features include Whale’s rapid heat up 8 litre water heater and a high flow submersible pump which are controlled by Whale’s I.C Intelligent Control touch pad system and an Avtex high gain omni-directional aerial which receives digital and analogue signals.
A new style two part door with a fly screen has a built-in storage compartment and all the windows have blinds and insect screens; main windows have unlined curtains too.
The standard upholstery is called Alpine, but other options are available if you prefer.
The kitchen has lots of storage space along with a three burner gas hob with an oven and grill. I liked the granite effect work tops.
The caravan is heated by the space saving Whale under floor mounted space heater which runs on gas or electric and there are three blown air ducts in the living area and one blown air duct has been fitted in the shower room. What you don’t see is a heater unit so more cupboard space has been created – a caravan designer’s dream.
The parallel sofas have sprung bed slats with cavernous space underneath; it would be very easy to overload this space. The chest of drawers with a pull-out occasional table is a new design and there is a free-standing table stored in the wardrobe. The front window is one piece and there are seven overhead lockers, one of which has a shelf.
The side dinette is wider than average, in fact the seat pads are 850mm wide (in old money that’s 2ft 10ins) and convert to a single bed 1800mm long making this a very comfortable area for dining or sleeping with good storage under the seats too.
The end shower room is certainly spacious, plenty of room for showering and dressing. The fully lined shower cubicle has the luxury of a light and the wardrobe has an upper and lower hanging rail; his and hers perhaps?
Lighting is low energy halogens, which are more eco-friendly than tungsten but not as eco-friendly as LED.
Verdict
A cracking entry level caravan, it’s ideal for couples and with a list of available options owners can customise the caravan to suit them.
